What is the Dandelion Effect?
As children, we can all remember how we used to pick dandelion seed heads, make a wish and then blow. Some believed that if you could blow "all" of the dandelion away from the stem, then your wish would come true.
Here are some of the symbolic meanings & characteristics of the dandelion:
The dandelion symbolizes Christ's passion (because of the bitterness of the leaves).
It symbolizes Christ's self-sacrifice on the cross.
It is also symbolic for positivity, progress, and survival.
There are also other dandelion meanings associated with the Sun and Fire: growth, warmth, clarity, healing, radiance, and illumination.
The French translation of dandelion is "the lion's tooth", which deals with courage, pride, family (communication/connection), and it is also symbolic of the sun.
The dandelion has a willful directive to survive!
There is at least one form of dandelion in every part of the world!
The dandelion's predominant attribute is "survival". More symbolic evidence of the dandelion possessing survival themes is illustrated in its method of propagation.
The dandelion took God's command: "Be fruitful, and multiply" very seriously. The dandelion in is "puffball" state spreads billions of seeds with just the faintest of breezes.
The cottony threads atop the seed insure take off, and allow its seeds to become airborne, spreading to the four corners of who-knows-where.
This mode of transportation is ingenious, and the sheer magnitude of seed spread is a guarantee of the plant's continued success on this planet.
This air way of reproduction links dandelion meanings to the element of the air (airborne seeds). Among the five foundational elements (fire, earth, air, water, aether-the material supposed to fill the region of the universe above the terrestrial sphere..."upper sky", space and heaven), air represents all things relating to communication.
Air is a medium by which infinite information is transported. Consider wireless devices - perfect analogy at how information is transported via airwaves.
Air is also symbolic of thought.
God gave us (Ridgeline) the vision image of the dandelion for many reasons:
His message to us from the beginning was to: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
What a beautiful spiritual analogy to the dandelion in the way it:
Is fruitful and multiplies. Dandelions are in every part of the world.
Brings healing through its nutritional properties. Every single part of the dandelion is nutritious! Healing and nourishment are in the Lord!
The dandelion's tap root is the most nutritional part of the dandelion and is symbolic of God's Word. The dandelion's root is strong and penetrates deep into the earth and is one of the reasons for its magnificent survival rate! We must be grounded in God's Word to survive. We must also be sure that we are diligent about teaching God's Word and spreading the Gospel..."The Dandelion Effect".
Brings the promise of restoration with its sun kissed yellow bloom.
Renewed Sense of Purpose
God's message to Ridgeline is to "Declare a Renewed Sense of Purpose"! Just as the dandelion took God's command to be fruitful and multiply very seriously, so must we! Ridgeline is very serious and determined about the spreading of the gospel and the "Great Commission".
